RELEASING ON MULTIPLE VIDEO GAME SYSTEMS THIS SPRING
Warren Spector Pays Further Tribute to
Disney History with Sequel

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to Debut in a Co-Starring Role and Make His First Ever Appearance as a Playable Video Game Character

Disney South Africa today announced the development of “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two”, the sequel to the critically acclaimed and commercially successful “Disney Epic Mickey” video game.  In “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two”, gamers will play as Mickey Mouse and for the first time ever, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney’s first cartoon star, in an all-new adventure of creativity and discovery. Created by video game industry luminary Warren Spector and Disney Interactive’s Junction Point game development studio, “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” returns the franchise to the Wii™ system from Nintendo, and expands it to new HD consoles including the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.

“As a life-long Disney fan, working with Mickey Mouse in the original ‘Disney Epic Mickey’ was a truly humbling experience,” said Warren Spector, creative director and vice president, Junction Point. “Millions of fans fell in love with Mickey as a video game hero and I know they'll experience similar emotions when they get to interact with and actually play as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in ‘Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.’"

“Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” returns Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to Wasteland, an alternate world filled with 80 years of forgotten Disney characters and theme park attractions.  But for the first time, Mickey and Oswald will join forces as true partners - Mickey with his magical paint brush that allows him to wield paint and thinner, and Oswald with his powerful remote control that allows him to command electricity.   This new co-op play further enhances the idea that “PlayStyle Matters” – a unique approach to gameplay pioneered by Warren Spector where players dynamically tackle different challenges in order to explore all possibilities and storylines, but with consequences for their chosen actions.

Staying true to Disney’s rich musical heritage, “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” is the first video game that can be described as a “musical.” At many points throughout the adventure, characters will advance the plot by expressing themselves in song, with all-original music and lyrics.  In addition to this distinctive musical approach to storytelling, players will hear tunes and instrumentation that change based on their personal choices, ultimately allowing each player to “conduct” their own unique soundtrack.  Disney Interactive has enlisted the help of Emmy award-winning composer James Dooley and noted lyricist Mike Himelstein to create these musical gameplay elements.

The magic of Disney will not only resonate through the game’s musical numbers, but also through the introduction of authentic Disney Character Voices talent who provide player direction through genuine character dialogue.  In “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two,” all characters—most notably Oswald The Lucky Rabbit whose voice will be heard for the first time—will communicate by speaking to the player.

“In the first ‘Disney Epic Mickey title,’ fans embraced Mickey as a true video game hero and welcomed Oswald back into the Disney family with open arms,” said John Pleasants, co-president, Disney Interactive Media Group. “Now, as the vision for the “Disney Epic Mickey’ franchise advances, fans and gamers across all platforms will experience completely new ways to embrace the immeasurable vault of Disney characters and attractions.”

Development for “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” is being led by Disney Interactive’s Junction Point.   Supporting the latest technology, the game will also feature full support for the PlayStation Move.  Art assets are available at www.dis-press.com.

Far Cry 3 Returns.

http://i1-news.softpedia-static.com/images/news2/Far-Cry-3-s-Open-World-Won-t-Overwhelm-Players-2.jpg

Far Cry 3 returns the series to a tropical setting, similar to the first game, set for release on September 6, 2012.

On June 6, 2011, Ubisoft showcased the demo gameplay of Far Cry 3 in its E3 2011 conference. It was revealed that the player has the ability to shoot enemies behind objects in crouch mode without moving his head up but with free hands.
Far Cry 3 returns the series to a tropical setting, similar to the first game. Players will assume the role of protagonist Jason Brody, a tourist who has been stranded on an island chain in the grips of violent local conflict for years. Jason has been separated from his girlfriend and, in his search for her, developers have stated he will have to deal with a wide cast of mostly unstable characters who have been trapped on these islands for some time. In the short demo trailer that was the first footage released of the game in development, Jason interacts with one such character, named Vaas (voice, mocap and facial motion capture by Michael Mando), who gives an unsettling monologue about the nature of insanity before trying to drown Jason by anchoring him to a cinder block and throwing him into a natural pool of water that has clearly been used repeatedly for this purpose.

PRE-ORDER: Darksiders II

https://mail-attachment.googleusercontent.com/attachment/?ui=2&ik=4fda961a29&view=att&th=1363989a049ee619&attid=0.0.1&disp=inline&safe=1&zw&saduie=AG9B_P-NVlFrJUfs-1YfGJOJzIfv&sadet=1332407296532&sads=Rm5SeowNOmwiDS1XmVFoVxNA4H0

THQ has confirmed that Darksiders II's story will take place in the same time period as the first game, only this time players will take control of the Horseman Death, instead of his brother War. The game will reportedly take place across an entirely new ensemble of maps, confirmed to be double in cumulative size to that of its predecessor. The game will also feature the remaining two horsemen (Strife and Fury) in some capacity. The game will take Death across multiple dungeons and city hubs. City hubs feature NPCs who can give out side quests etc. In the July 2011 issue of Game Informer, the cover feature details that one city hub will connect to a number of dungeons and that one city area will feature more dungeons than the whole of the original Darksiders. Loot will also be included, dropping from encounters as rewards ranging from 12 different armor piece categories, which can have different enchantments and may power up Death's Wrath Powers.

Darksiders II starts at nearly the same time as the start of the first Darksiders. After War is convicted and sent back to Earth by the Charred Council, they inform the other three Horseman of his fate. The Horseman Death, knowing that his brother War is the most honorable and incorruptible of the four, and would never have started the Apocalypse early, flies into a rage. Believing his brother is victim of a conspiracy, Death defies the Council's orders and sets out on a personal mission to find proof of his brother's innocence. Death travels to the Nether Realms, a place between Heaven and Hell, to call in favors from powerful beings that rule the realm.

Development

-THQ's creative director Luis Gigliotti revealed in an interview with GameAxis that Darksiders will be a franchise and that they are contemplating a sequel.
-Joystiq has stated that a Darksiders sequel was planned for the fiscal year of 2012.
-An article on the Official Xbox Magazine website confirms that Darksiders II was expected to be released in 2012.
-It was announced at E3 2011 that Darksiders II would be a launch title for the upcoming Wii U.
-At the San Diego Comic Con, it was revealed that Michael Wincott of The Crow fame will be providing the voice of Death.
-It was recently confirmed that Darksiders II would not have a multiplayer because of technical problems and because they had not developed each horseman individually.
-On February 14, THQ has announced that Darksiders II will hit stores on June 26, 2012.

ABOUT THE MOVIE
Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. From Disney and Pixar, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition and challenges destiny to change her fate.

“Brave” follows the heroic journey of Merida, a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to harness all of her skills and resources – including her clever and mischievous triplet brothers – to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late, discovering the meaning of true bravery.

Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and produced by Katherine Sarafian, “Brave” is a grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters and signature Pixar humor that audiences of all ages around the world have come to eagerly expect. The film takes aim at theaters on August 3, 2012, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

FIFA STREEt AVAILABLE AT SKOOBS FROM 16 MARCH 2012

FIFA Street boils down the soccer experience, takes out the endless running and the frustratingly long moments between the moments and delivers a great facsimile of a street game.

Action stays close, the game’s modes feel incredibly varied and it’s an intense version of the sport.
Unlike previous games in the old FIFA Street series, the new FIFA Street is not cartoony or overly-stylized. Players are realistic, with realistic movements and the ability to pull off some seriously agile moves. The game’s World Tour mode functions as its campaign and it’s quite lengthy. You’ll travel around a regional area participating in a variety of game types before making your way to the national stage and later international competition.

The way the World Tour mode is structured, along with some of its lengthy tournaments mean you’ll have plenty to play before you call it a day in FIFA Street.  You can play various modes like 5 on 5, Panna rules, Futsal, Last Man Standing or even customize your own rules. Each game type requires a different style of play and that keeps your attention far longer than a standard FIFA game.

Capcom explains Street Fighter X Tekken on-disc DLC

Capcom admitted that the 12 Street Fighter X Tekken characters announced as PlayStation Vita exclusives are actually included on the discs of the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC versions of the game to be sold as downloadable content.

In a statement on the Capcom Unity blog, the publisher responded to outcry over the decision, saying the move was made to save hard drive space and to "ensure for a smooth transition" when the DLC becomes available.
According to Capcom, keeping the DLC on disc will allow players who purchased the content and those who did not to play together without issue. Addressing the hard drive space issue, Capcom said, "Instead of a massive download, there will be a much smaller unlock that brings the new content to the surface."
Capcom reiterated what it said February, noting that a "Super" or "Ultimate" double-dip version of the game will not be made available, with all additional content arriving as DLC.
The 12 characters that make up the on-disc DLC for Street Fighter X Tekken are Blanka, Cody, Dudley, Elena, Guy, and Sakura, while the Tekken side will welcome Alisa Bosconovitch, Bryan Fury, Christie Monteiro, Jack, Lars Alexandersson, and Lei Wulong.
As for when the 12 characters will be made available to console gamers, Capcom said they will arrive "soon after" the PS Vita version launch, currently scheduled for this fall.
Street Fighter X Tekken is due out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 6. The PC version of the game is due out on May 11, with a PS Vita version to follow.

GRAND SLAM TENNIS 2: NOW AVAILABLE AT SKOOBS

The first Grand Slam Tennis game was a Wii exclusive and focused on being easy to pick up and play rather than being a serious simulation. The sequel is available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and is a whole different affair, with EA trying to compete against more serious tennis titles like Top Spin 4.
As always EA’s presentation is flawless, the menu system is similar to other top titles like FIFA 12 and the animations and character models are all top notch.

Pat Cash commentates on the action and he is accompanied by legend John McEnroe. The tennis players available may not be everyone from the professional game but all the ones you want are there. So long as you can play as Novak Djoković, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Roger Federer, we doubt that anyone really minds who else is available.

There is a smaller range of top female players on show but you can still play as heavyweights Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Maria Sharapova. On top of this you can relive the glory days of tennis greats like Björn Borg, Pete Sampras and Martina Navratilova who are all available for selection.

Like in the previous game, all four major tournaments are available to play in and as with the players available to choose, the only official competitions are the ones most people care about. That means you can break British hearts in Wimbledon, stun supporters down under in the Australian Open, make the crowd fall in love with you at Roland Garros in Paris, or rock home at the US Open.

SSX: NOW AVAILABLE AT SKOOBS

SSX's lead characters are absent from the first 15 minutes of the game. You meet them soon enough - resolute, ancient, snow-capped behemoths plucked from the Rockies, Alps and Himalayas, drawn up through a NASA satellite and digitally deposited into the game - but before you can walk them, you must first learn how to fly above them.

Dropped from a helicopter at 30,000 feet, the opening minutes of SSX give everybody the chance to experience the game's true quest object: flow. Freefalling through the sky with no trees to slam against, no rails to miss, no snow tundra to upset the carve of your combo, you are free to chain trick after trick and watch the score counter climb to the stratosphere. 20 hours later and there's a chance you'll be able to link trick to tweaked trick with this kind of uninterrupted elegance, but for now you can wax lyrical with your thumbs without fear of stutter.

SSX is a vibrant, eager advance for the Cool Boarder/Tony Hawk's lineage of extreme sports video games.
Then, when you've mastered the basic vocabulary, it's time to meet the opponent against whom you're going to pit it. A squeeze of the right bumper and you open a wing suit, gliding to the ground where miles of snow dip and rise. Rock protrusions provide rails, and ice sheets scream you into tunnels that burrow through the earth before spitting you out into twirling drops.
